This work is a collaboration with retired NASA astronaut Mike Massimino who famously repaired the Hubble Telescope. This is my first work in marble milled by stone carving robots in the mountains of Tuscany and finished with care by hand during my residency with Digital Stone Project. When I looked at the scans I took of Mike's flown space suit gloves they were just begging to be stone. I love when something as heavy and rigid as stone can look soft and smooth like fabric and can also provide appropriate finishes for various other materials creating contrast between the forms.
Big thanks to everyone at the digital stone project
